A cascade of hundreds of words printed on cards, coming together to form an impressive column almost 8 metres high and 3 metres in diameter: this is “LOVE”, the installation conceived by Melismelis for Generali, main sponsor of the 47th edition of the Rimini Meeting.
The idea stems from an interpretation of Generali’s values in connection with the central theme of the 2026 edition, “The love that moves the sun and the other stars”, and from the search for an answer to a simple question: “What words make up the word LOVE?” Listening, care, trust, respect, closeness, openness and gratitude are just some of the words through which love can take shape, because each of us understands it differently.
Throughout the Meeting, every visitor had the opportunity to write the word that best represented their own idea of love on a card and add it to the installation. In this way, each individual gesture became part of an ever-evolving collective work. The words were then gradually collected in a display case and made available to the public, creating a symbolic exchange between those who left behind their own idea of love and those who took someone else’s with them.
Completing the installation were two mirrors positioned at its centre, one on the ground and one suspended above, infinitely multiplying visitors’ reflections and making them, visually as well, an integral part of the story.
Melismelis oversaw the concept, design, creative development, graphic design and production coordination of the installation, which was located at one of the main crossroads of the Rimini Expo Centre, Piazza Generali Cattolica.
